Ghettos

The ghettos were the Jewish qaurters, where they live (Ghettos). The Jews were forced to live in the Ghettos, the Ghettos were so crouded that they could barely even sit down, in fact most of the just didn't even try; they had to just sleep standing up, because it was so crouded. The ghettos were created to isolate the Jews from everyone else, essentially to keep the Jews as far away from Hitler, and the other Germans as possible. They wouldn't get much food in the ghettos, and many of them died of starvation. Many ghetto inhabitants would smuggle things across the ghetto walls as a form of resistance, however, this was futile, as they were only here until the Nazis planned out their life in advance for them (Ghettos). The Jews would be put in a Ghetto, but only while they plan out the deportation of said ghetto to a concentration camp. In the best case, people who are allowed to enter, or exit, and how often they were able to do so was limited, but most ghettos completely prohibitted exit, and entry. Jews were also only allowed to take a few personal items into the ghettos (Daily Life in the Ghettos).

Warsaw

In October 1940, it was determined that there needed to be a ghetto in Warsaw. Once the ghetto was built, all of the Jews were forced to live there, the Germans would then seal the ghetto off from the rest of the city in November the same year. The ghetto was closed off with a wall more than ten feet high, and topped with barbed wire, it was also heavily gaurded, to prevent entry and exit. German induced food shortages, and overcrowding would lead to high mortality rate in the ghetto. Even after the inhabitants were freed, they still were not free, because they would be deported to camps (WARSAW).
